PRO-VITA PRINCIPLE
The organization promotes the values of life, of family and of parental vocation, mainly the right to life of all human beings since conception and until natural death. Considering that life is sacred and inviolable, Pro-vita opposes to any events which may prevent, affect or stop the course of life, in its initial phase (abortion), adult (crime, suicide, capital penalty) or final (euthanasia and assisted suicide).
1. “PRO-VITA FOR BORN AND UNBORN” VĂLENII DE MUNTE ASSOCIATION
The Association “PRO-VITA for born and unborn children” is a christian-orthodox, non-governmental and non-profit organization, established in 1994, and authorized by Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
The activity of the Association is being developed in rural area, within 2 establishments located in Valea Plopului Village and Valea Screzii Village, both villages belonging to Poseşti Commune, Prahova County, in a hill area with such natural conditions favourable to physical and psychical recovery of the ones being assisted.
The villages are placed on relatively short distance from economical and cultural centres of Prahova County, along an accessible national road. The area is considered poor, as the majority of Romania’s rural areas at the moment of speaking, but is protected, for the moment, against cities suburbia dangers (juvenile delinquency, street violence, drugs, and prostitution).
The communities are yet marked by the socio-economic evolution with an influence over natural evolution of family environment (domestic violence caused by alcoholism, child abandonment, faulty education, etc.)
The Association has been established in 1994 by the orthodox priest Nicolae Tănase, parish priest Valea Plopului Village, and his wife, Maria Tănase, educator at the Vălenii de Munte Kindergarten nr. 3.
The Association is counting a great deal on the permanent voluntary work of a number of approximately 50 persons from all city civil society areas (Ploieşti and Bucharest) such as engineers, architects, doctors, teachers, medical assistants, social assistants, artists, clerks, students, priests from others parishes, as well as a great deal of people from local community.
The above mentioned people are acting for drawing funds from donations, they are accomplishing the connection with other Romanian associations and worldwide associations having a humanitarian purpose, they are conceiving development projects and they are making public the accomplishments and needs of the Association.
Volunteers’ activity (heavy to quantify), is motivated both by great volume of necessary work, by lack of funds for specialized personal, and by the enthusiasm and devotion with which there has been created this unique model of solving, in Romania, the problems of social disadvantaged children. With respect to voluntariate we can speak about a real “PRO-VITA phenomena”, where the practice of generosity and tolerance is contaminating.
The Association has been created in order to structure and legally shape an activity, that started several years ago, of saving from material disappearance as well as of psychical and moral recovery of several children placed on the periphery of society and denied by the same.
The total number of assisted in this moment is more than 200 persons, from the following categories:
- children born due to giving up abortion and let in the care of the Association, in full confidentiality conditions, on a shorter or longer period of time;
- children from families having big social problems which were brought by their mothers for a temporary period of time;
- children abandoned in hospitals having deficiencies in course of recovery by their placement in a family environment;
- street children recovered and in course of reintegration;
- youngsters sent away from orphanages after reaching the age of 18, re-socialized and involved in lucrative activities;
- pregnant women or mothers banished by their families and protected until the solving of their personal situation;
- children resulted from rape.

2. “PRO-VITA FOR BORN AND UNBORN” BUCHAREST SUBSIDIARY
The Bucharest subsidiary of "Pro-Vita Association for born and unborn" has been established in 2005. Its main MEANS OF ACTION are:
- Humanitarian and charity activities
One of the main targets of our activity is to attract sponsorships/protections for the support of the financial and logistic support of the centres of assistance of the Parent-Association from Valea Plopului and Valea Screzii / Prahova county (not far from Bucharest).
- Informational/educational/counselling activities
Pro-vita intends to raise, among the public opinion, the degree of awareness of humanity and of the right to life of the unborn child, as well as of other topics related to the problems of life and of family, through the organization of training courses, seminars, debates, public manifestations and other activities for public sensitization.
- Lobby and advocacy
We consider that the society comes before the state, that the politics has, firstly, a serving vocation and that the governors shall listen to the governed, the elected persons – to the electors. We wish the policy to assert, from a Christian perspective about human and society, the dignity of the person and the importance of some universal values such as liberty, solidarity and justice.
This is the reason for which Pro-vita supervises the activity of Parliament and of the central public authorities and it is in contact with them, in order to influence the factors of decision, with a view to propose, support and apply, respectively to oppose to the legislative initiative, in conformity with the purpose of the Association.
At the same time, Pro-vita promotes the right and the duty of the supporters of the values of life and family to vote and to register in political parties, considering that these are the forums in which the individuals may co-work, in the most efficient manner, for the general well-being, in order to built a just, favourable company for the integral success of the people.
